Rivals of Ixalan Sealed League!
It’s a fun, casual way to play a bunch of Magic, running for 4 weeks (plus an extra Friday in the last week to wrap up).

Entry is $40 and you get a deckbox. Build a 40 card minimum sealed deck from 4 Rivals of Ixalan and 2 Ixalan Boosters.

Each week after the first you can buy a Rivals of Ixalan booster to add to your pool, you can rebuild your deck as much as you like, It’s never too late to join.

You can leave your deck here so it’s always ready to play!
You can play your matches any time, however Wednesday evenings and Saturday afternoons will be “league days”. If you are looking for matches, this is a chance to come along and find people! You’re welcome to use the Facebook event to try and arrange matches too!

The first 5 matches you play each week are scored towards your league count, with prizes at the end based on participation.
You can’t play the same person more than twice in a week to add to your score.

Everyone who completes all their matches and has added all their boosters gets 2 packs as a prize!

Lab’s Monthly Challenge: Merchants!
Feb 3 @ 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Lab's Monthly Challenge: Merchants! @ Melbourne | Victoria | Australia

With the start of a new year we want to expand our board game sessions! We’re starting a new series of organised play events:

The Games Laboratory Monthly Challenge

This month we will be playing Century: Spice Road, Splendor, and Traders of Osaka!

Century: Spice Road is the first part of the Century game saga, players are caravan leaders who travel the famed silk road to deliver spices to the far reaches of the continent for fame and glory.

In Splendor you play as gem merchants in the renaissance, securing the best mines, traders, and noble clients to grow their wealth. The game itself has a simple, victory point based strategy. Players use their resources (gems) to buy locations, and the player with the most points wins.

In Traders of Osaka players are merchants who are attempting to ship four different types of cargo from Osaka to Edo. Players affect how quickly or slowly the ships move and can trigger pirate raids that may cost their opponents their goods.

There will not be a learn to play session for these events. We expect all players to be familiar with the rules for all games. Luckily, all the games are available in our Board Game Library!

You will play 3 Rounds, one of each game. The rounds are timed depending on the games of the month, it can go from 40~60 minutes. Even if your game isn’t entirely finished it will end when the time runs out.

You will get 3 points for coming in 1st and 1 point for 2nd place on your respective table. At the end of the event we will give Store Credit prizes as awards to 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place based on the points you got for each round.

Plus, during the event all players will have a 10% discount on the featured games!

Dungeons & Dragons

Not just Wednesday, every day!

We run Introduction to D&D tables, starting fairly regularly. The tables are an introduction to 5th Edition and are ideal for anyone who has little or no experience of Dungeons & Dragons (or Role Playing Games in general), or for folks who have not played in quite a while and want a refresher before they jump in.

There’s also heaps of other tables playing ongoing adventures!

Check out details on our Dungeons and Dragons page!

Then, if you’ve got questions, ask away in our Games Laboratory Roleplaying Games Facebook group.

Support us in keeping the lights on and rent paid by contributing something to the store when you’re in.
Buy some drinks or snacks here, pick up the last D&D book you’re missing, or buy a few dice to donate to your DM. It all helps 😀
